Mamiya 7 + 150mm : Body Serial Number : PK1155, Lens Serial Number : SF1316
"The Mamiya 7 is the world's best camera.
If I only could have one camera for everything I do, it would be the Mamiya 7 and the 43mm, 80mm and 150mm lenses." review by kenrockwell.com.
"Mamiya 7, legends has it that if you ever only need one medium format film camera the fight out would be either the Hasselblad, Rolleiflex or ... the Mamiya 7. Having shot all three camera before, I reckon the Mamiya 7 is probably the most 'shoulder friendly camera' the weight of a Mamiya 7 with a lens (1.2 kg) is only a fraction of a Hassy (2.2 kg) or a Rollei, yet with it's versatile option of 'long nose' lenses you can shoot almost anything with this beautify as maximum quality. After all maximum quality is what we are looking for in medium format aren't we?" my 2 cents from Gary Wong of FilmNeverDie.
"The Mamiya 7 II offers double exposure capability and choice of black or champagne finish with a restyling over the original Mamiya 7 model. It uses all Mamiya 7 lenses including the latest 50mm f/4.5 superwide lens with optical finder and 210mm f/8 with optical finder."
"VERSION I vs. VERSION II
There are three versions of this camera:
1.) The original one in titanium finish (shown above) that I use.
2.) The current -II version painted to look a nasty chrome ("Champagne")
3.) The current -II version in black.
They are all mostly plastic and just painted the various colors.
There are negligible differences between them. The rangefinder flaws affect all versions from what I've seen.
The "improvements" in the rangefinder in the II version are a change in color, apparently not reliability, stability or accuracy.
The II version adds multiple exposure capability and replaces the simple lens-changing curtain control on the original Mamiya 7 with a more complex fold-out lever.
The II version adds an extra neck strap lug. Mamiya can retrofit this to the original Mamiya 7 if you want.
All in all, they are the same cameras." by Ken Rockwell quote from Photo.net
The Mamiya 7 II is a medium format 6x7cm rangefinder camera with interchangeable leaf shutter lenses. It is "The Ultimate 6x7 Rangefinder", virtually no bigger than the top 35mm SLRs. Quiet, compact and lightweight, the Mamiya 7 II has a built-in Aperture Priority A/E meter with fully manual exposure capability. This allows one to create incredibly detailed 6x7cm "Ideal Format" images with ease. A panoramic adapter accessory can be used for true 24x65mm panoramic images. The precision rangefinder is ideal for quick, accurate focusing, particularly in low light situations.
