The Minolta SRT 100b is the very start of what was to be one of Minolta's greatest fully mechanical SLR lineups, whose models would stand the test of time. The SRT 100b was originally launched in 1966 with amazing light metering via its 'CLC' through-the lens contrast detecting light metering capabilities. The solid, incredibly sturdy metal frame is still in incredible shape today.

Minoltas are known for their simple, easy to use functionality - and this one is no different, offering the basics that would be needed. A 1/1000 shutter speed with no batteries needed to function, and a fantastic lens mount with affordable, but very well built and very high quality.

The Vivitar Auto Wide-Angle 20mm f/3.8 is a lens distributed by Ponder & Best in the early 1970s. It is known to have been designed and manufactured in Japan by Kino Precision based on both serial numbers and first hand reports from Ponder & Best employees. The lens is part of the first family of all-black, all metal automatic fixed-mount lenses distributed by Ponder & Best. This lens was marketed for several years by P&B and a large number still exist in the used lens market

The accompanying Vivitar 20mm F38 Auto Wide-Angle. The lens is very well made.  Close focus, perfect for shooting solid build, decent IQ.

Due to the age of the SRT series their light meters tend to be burnt out. Fortunately this is not too much of an issue as these cameras function fine without batteries. This mechanical reliability is one of the main advantages of the Minolta SRT101. To meter a scene before taking a picture just use an external light-meter or a light-meter app on your phone (we recommend myLightmeter), or alternatively the foolproof 'Sunny-16' rule.
