We process colour negative (C-41/CN-16), black & white and slide/reversal (E-6/CR-56) film. We do not process Kodachrome (K-14), motion picture based film without the removed Remjet layer (ECN-2) or Super 8 film. Colour (C-41) and black & white films are processed in-house. Colour/C-41 orders are developed using a Fujifilm FP363SC processor, while our black & white orders are developed manually via a drum process. We outsource our E-6 development, which is developed via a dip-and-dunk process.
We can push or pull black & white film at no extra cost. We also can push or pull E-6 film at an extra cost of 50% per roll. Please note however, we do not push or pull C-41 film.
We provide high-resolution scans with the resolution of a typical 35mm image being 5444 by 3649 pixels, while our 120/220 medium format images depend on the negative size (e.g., 6x4.5 vs 6x6 etc.) but is typically 4800 by 3649 pixels @ 72 dpi. Our 35mm film is scanned using a Fujifilm Frontier SP500, while our medium format film is scanned using a Fujifilm Frontier SP3000.
We upload your images to Dropbox and send you a link to an online folder containing your images that you can download to your phone or computer. Don’t worry – you don’t need a Dropbox account to access your images. We can also scan to a USB thumb drive if one is provided to us at no extra cost.
Developing and/or Scanning Pricelist (with Typical Turnaround Times):
Our prices are listed in tables below, separately for 35mm and 120 film. For the other medium format films, i.e., 220/620 format, the prices per roll are the same as that for 120. Note that the prices are per roll, regardless of the number of exposures. I.e., a 220 roll of film is charged at the same rate as a 120 roll of film, and a 35mm, 36 exposure roll will cost the same as a 35mm, 24/27 exposure roll to develop or develop and scan.
Develop Only, Develop & Scan
For 35mm film, our prices per roll:
|35mm||Develop Only||Develop & Scan||Typical/Maximum Turnaround Times*|
|Colour Negative (C-41)||$7||$13||2/3 Days|

*Our turnaround times vary – colour negatives are typically processed within two days, black & white in three days, and slide within five days. For any orders with mixed emulsion types, for example, a C-41 and an E-6 order, customers can request to receive the C-41 negatives/scan first if needed. Otherwise, they will usually be sent out once every roll in the order is completed.
For our customers who need faster turnaround times, we offer a rush job service, meaning same-day film developing and or scanning services. This is however, only available for colour negative (C-41) film in both 35mm and 120 formats, at a cost of 50% per roll. Rush job service is available on most days, however, is typically not available during Saturdays or during times of film processor maintenance.
Note that for customers who are subscribed to our scanning membership service, we offer free rush jobs per booked scanning session, for job orders that have four or less rolls to be developed.
We also provide scanning services for customers who have film that they would like scanned, with prices outlined below. These prices depend on both film format, and whether or not they have been cut.
|Film Format||Uncut Roll||Cut Roll||Mounted Slide|
|35mm||$7||$10||$10 per 24|
Our turnaround times for film scanning vary, but are usually done within 2 to 3 days of receiving the order. Please note that for negatives that were previously developed by us, the cost of a scan-only service is the price difference between a develop and scan and develop only job, meaning $6 for a 35mm scan, and $9 for a 120/220/620 scan.
Note that we do develop and can also scan orders that are mailed-in to us. Simply print and fill out this form, accessible via this link:
Then, send it along with your film in a suitable box or postage envelope to the following address:
(03) 8899 7586
6 Watertank Way, Melbourne, VIC, 3000
Once we receive your film, we’ll calculate the total price of the order based on what you’ve requested to be developed or developed & scanned, and send you a link to our website to pay for your order via email or text with payment instructions.
Once we’ve confirmed your payment, we’ll send out a link with your photos and either hold onto, mail back or dispose of your negatives depending on the option you’ve selected on the order sheet. Please note the option to ship back your negatives will cost $8.5 for any address within Australia.
