Description:

The Nikon FA was launched in 1983 with a wide set of features including every single type of automatic shooting mode possible; program, aperture-priority, shutter-priority and fully manual modes in one camera. It also featured an incredibly fast 1/4000s shutter speed, with an accompanying 1/250s flash sync speed. The camera was also the first to feature smarter exposure metering based on multiple areas, also known as matrix metering. This allows for more accurate metering in complex lighting situations.

Yet despite all its fancy features, the camera still offers two fully mechanical shutter speeds, one at 1/250s and the other being bulb - meaning a battery isn't needed for longer exposures at all. The camera is also relatively compact with great ergonomics thanks to the added grip and not particularly heavy, making it easy to carry around.

The Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D lens that comes with this kit is sharp and lightweight, at a flexible focal length suited to general photography.
