The Polaroid Autofocus 660 was a square-bodied instant camera in Polaroid's 600series.. It was the first in the range to use Polaroid's patented Sonar Autofocus device. The distance to the subject was calculated by emitting an sonar (ultrasonic) pulse which then was captured again. The time difference between the sent versus received pulse gave the distance measurement. The sonar emmiter/receiver is the big gold disk next to the lens.

  • Lens: 116mm, f/11, Single-element plastic.
  • Sonar auto foocus (sharpest at 1.2-1.5 meters or 4-5 feet).
  • Shutter: electronic; automatic speed between 1/4-1/200 sec.
  • Integral auto flash that works in low light can be forced on or off.
  • Polaroid's Light Management System (the darken/lighten exposure correction slider).
why should i get a Polaroid camera ? Read on:

There is no better time to get a piece of Polaroid History. Since the closure of the last Polaroid instant film factory in 2008, The Impossible Project film has improved so much that it’s almost resembling the original Polaroid film, almost.

The guys from Impossible stepped in to buy the last remaining factory just days before it was due to close down. The machines had been dismantled and the last of the materials required to produce the film had run out. To keep the Polaroid film format and cameras alive, Impossible had to reinvent the film chemistry from scratch.

With the current Generation 3 film the results have been far more consistent and accurate. We have many different models of refurbished Polaroid 600 cameras (pictured above) as well as the classic SX-70 type available from our Bourke Street store or online. The benefit from buying from FilmNeverDie is that all of our cameras come with a 6 month warranty and tips to help you get started. Along with the latest Impossible film, these cameras will help capture your special event or party in a unique and memorable way; ready to share, give away or scan. Thankfully Impossible is here to stay and giving the amateur or professional photographer a new avenue to explore this very nearly forgotten art.

Come check out all the cameras we have on display in store, we can show you how they work over a cup of coffee or tea. Alternatively all of our cameras and film are available from our online store with express and standard delivery available Australia wide and internationally.
