Filmneverdie Shooters - An interview with David James
Where do you come from & what do you do for a living?
I live in Melbourne's East and work currently as a Kitchen Hand and Freelance Web
Developer.
How old are you?
23
How did you become inspired to shoot on film?
One of my friends started shooting film on an SLR while attending a photo college; I had always liked the idea but never got into it, thinking it was far too expensive and over my head, but when he told me some basics and some general costs, and saw the amazing quality of images that film could produce, I just had to buy an SLR and have been shooting ever since.
What format do you shoot? 35mm, Polaroid, 8 x 10 etc
Mainly shoot 35mm, but also on occasion shoot 120mm.
Both in either colour or black and white.
Why do you like this format?
Its easily accessible, relatively cheap and can still be developed in a bunch of places.
Where do you see the future of analogue photography?
The fact that analogue photography has become almost as popular (or even more) than digital these days means that I think it is here to stay, at least for our lifetime.
