Blue Moon - 2014- 2026

Goodbye Blue Moon Wong

From Full-Time Athlete to Couch Potato

Blue Moon Wong
Whelped: 17/12/2014
Sire: EARLY RETURN
Dam: SHE GONE

Racing name: **TWO SEASONS**

On 22/05/2016, TWO SEASONS won his first race.

Over his racing career, he ran an incredible:

* 102 starts
* 22 wins
* 19 runner-ups
* 12 thirds

He earned over $24,000 in prize money across three years of racing.

His last win came in 2019, and after two more races, he was retired.

Like many retired racing greyhounds, his next chapter was uncertain. Thankfully, with the help of animal welfare groups who desexed him and cleaned his teeth, he was eventually put up for adoption in 2020. He also came with a few conditions we had to manage, including gingivitis and pannus.

That was when Blue Moon entered our lives.

We adopted him near Parkville, close to the city and our frequent walks through Brunswick cafés and streets, before later moving together toward the mountains. For the next six years, Blue Moon became part of our family, our community, and the everyday rhythm of FilmNeverDie.

It was amazing watching the transformation.

From a full-time athlete trained only to race, he slowly learned how to simply be a dog.

I still remember how he would completely freeze during walks sometimes — almost confused that a walk could just be… a stroll. No chasing. No training. No racing. Just existing.

Blue Moon became o page boy dog. He came with me to cafés like Wide Open Road and Code Black, joined photowalks, helped me collect vending machines, and of course spent countless hours “working” at the shop.

He had his quirks too.

Once, a small chihuahua barked right in his face and he snapped back instinctively — a reminder that retired racing dogs carry parts of their old life with them. Rehabilitation and adjustment are real, and not always easy.

But over time, he became softer, calmer, and deeply loved by everyone around him.

Recently, after developing osteosarcoma, Blue Moon passed away peacefully.

We want to sincerely thank all our friends, customers, and community members who helped support Blue Moon’s life over the years. Without you guys, we could not have given him the life he had after racing.

Would we adopt again if given the chance?

Absolutely.

Would we recommend others to consider it?

Yes.

Breeding dogs purely for racing is something we still struggle with morally. But we also believe that if these dogs already exist, we have the ability to give them something precious after retirement: a normal life.

A couch. A slow walk. A café visit. A family.

Every year, thousands of greyhounds disappear from the racing system without people knowing where they end up. Some are lucky enough to find homes.

Blue Moon was one of them.

It’s not always easy adopting retired racing dogs. But we are very glad we did it.

Thank you, Blue Moon.

You were loved far beyond the racetrack.
