The Nikon FE was introduced in 1978. It is an advanced enthusiast level, F-mount, 35mm film SLR. It features the same compact and light design as the Nikon FM but has an electronic shutter release. The build and layout of this camera is near perfect and Nikon knew that as they used this design until 2001 when they stopped the production of the Nikon FM2.
It is the perfect camera for a film photography enthusiast trying to improve their photography game. It’s exceptionally strong, reliable, and precise, and offers meter-assisted manual shooting that more established shooters will love. Yet with the flick of a dial, thanks to its aperture priority mode, it offers enough automation to allow new shooters to learn on a truly remarkable machine.

As we welcome 2025, we’re gearing up for something exciting—a Shot on Nana exhibition, likely happening mid-year.
As a wise person once said, “The proof is in the pudding.” This is our chance to come together and show the world what’s possible with the tiny yet mighty Nana camera! 📸
Curious about its image quality? Check out some decent results from our recent photowalk here (scroll to the bottom for the photos, in black-and-white).
If you already have a Nana camera, it’s time to get shooting! If you’d like to grab one, you can find it here.
Until then, remember:
Stay Positive, Shoot Negative. 🖤
