The Olympus OM-1 is one of the most important 35mm SLRs ever made and for good reason. This is a fully manual camera, designed for photographers who want total control and a direct, tactile shooting experience.

Exposure on the OM-1 is entirely manual, guided by a match-needle light meter in the viewfinder. You choose both aperture and shutter speed, and the needle clearly shows you when you’ve nailed the exposure. Because the shutter is fully mechanical, the camera will fire at all speeds even without a battery as the battery powers the meter only. This makes the OM-1 exceptionally reliable and ideal for long-term use.

Focusing is manual, and the viewfinder is legendary. Large, bright, and uncluttered, it’s widely regarded as one of the best optical viewfinders ever put into an SLR.
